Andrija Schossberger was born in Novi Sad on August 28, 1939—just four days before the outbreak of World War II, which irrevocably shattered the world into which he arrived. In April 1944, at barely four years of age, he was deported to the German Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau and murdered in a gas chamber upon arrival.
