Marek Hausmann — Painter of Memory Marek Hausmann is a Polish painter for whom the canvas has become a space of deep dialogue with history and spiritual heritage. Although professionally connected to the technical and construction sector for years, he has consistently developed his oil painting technique, treating art as a personal mission and a tool of profound exploration. His path to art did not lead through academy halls, but through years of independent study of biblical texts, Jewish culture, and personal journeys tracing the footprints of lost communities. This unique perspective of a passionate researcher—tracking the shadows of former neighbors in historic towns—infuses his works with a distinctive, metaphysical depth. Creating away from the commercial art market allowed him to preserve absolute independence of vision and raw, authentic sincerity. In his figurative and minimalist oil works, Hausmann bridges a disciplined technical mind with the sensitivity of an artist seeking the sacred in history. The culmination of this artistic journey is his monumental cycle of 22 oil paintings, „Kaddish for the Shtetl” (2026), created as a painterly reconstruction of daily life, dignity, and culture in pre-war Jewish towns. Currently, the artist continues his mission of preserving memory and restoring identity through his ongoing series, „Auschwitz: Children of Jacob – Zikaron”, dedicated to the youngest victims of history.
